Park View continues to be a school with a proud history of academic success, and once again our students achieved strongly in their GCSE (and equivalent) examinations in 2025. This year’s results carry particular significance, as 2025 is the first year nationally without KS2 prior attainment data, meaning schools are judged on attainment alone rather than on progress measures. Within this unique national context, Park View students performed well across a wide range of subjects and demonstrated the resilience and ambition we champion as part of our school culture.
As always, the government advises caution when comparing school performance data across years or between schools, but our strong outcomes in many subjects remain a source of real pride.
Subject Strengths at Key Stage 4
Excellence in the Core: English, Maths and Science
English and Mathematics
English and Maths remain central to our curriculum, and both subjects demonstrated real strengths this year. In English, the majority of students secured a good foundation for future study, and the subject continues to play a leading role in building the literacy, confidence and communication skills that young people rely on as they progress into Key Stage 5 and beyond.
Mathematics remained a strong pillar of our provision. Students achieved secure outcomes that reflect consistent teaching, a well-sequenced curriculum and an increasing level of resilience among our learners. Staff across both subjects have worked tirelessly to ensure students are supported through the demands of GCSE courses, and the foundations built this year ensure that many students are exceptionally well placed to succeed in post-16 study.
Although we continue to aim even higher, especially at the very top grades, the performance of students in English and Maths this summer provides us with a strong platform for further success. The development work already underway, including enhanced intervention, stretch opportunities and refined curriculum sequencing, will ensure that momentum continues into 2026.
Science
Science continues to be one of the defining strengths of Park View. This year we expanded entries into Biology, Chemistry and Physics, reflecting our commitment to ensuring that more students experience ambitious, high-level scientific study. This is a bold strategy that prioritises aspiration and breadth of opportunity.
Despite widening entry, performance in Science remained secure, and many students achieved highly across the disciplines. The strength of teaching, the enthusiasm of students and the status of Science within our school culture remain clear. As students progress into the Sixth Form, increasing numbers choose Science-related pathways which is evidence of the confidence and engagement that stems from their Key Stage 4 experience.
Languages: Outstanding Success
Languages were one of the standout areas of performance this year. Students across French, German and Spanish achieved exceptionally well, securing some of the strongest outcomes in recent years. These subjects continue to thrive due to expert teaching, a well-designed curriculum and a culture that promotes curiosity, global awareness and academic ambition.
Creative, Expressive and Practical Subjects: A Signature Strength of Park View
Our creative subjects, Art, Design, Drama and Food, delivered some of the most impressive performances in the school once again. Students produced exceptional portfolios and performances, and outcomes remained consistently high across all disciplines. These subjects represent a vital part of the Park View identity, offering students a space to express themselves, explore new ideas and develop resilience and independence.
Vocational and Technical Subjects: High Value and High Achievement
Health & Social Care, ICT and Sport continue to offer students high-quality, engaging and career-relevant pathways. Outcomes were strong, with many students achieving the highest grades. The success of vocational qualifications is a testament to the expertise of our staff and the well-structured balance between theoretical understanding and practical application.
Humanities: Impressive Improvement
History and Geography both saw improved performance, with students demonstrating stronger depth of knowledge and clearer understanding of complex concepts. The focus on developing analytical writing, interpretation and critical thinking is clearly paying off, and the subjects continue to attract strong cohorts into the Sixth Form.
Improved Outcomes for Disadvantaged Students
One of the most encouraging aspects of 2025 is the improvement in outcomes for our disadvantaged learners. Their performance strengthened across the curriculum, reflecting the impact of our targeted support, high-quality teaching and the structures we have put in place to ensure all students can thrive.
This year, disadvantaged students achieved more strongly in the core subjects and performed particularly well in Humanities, Languages and several practical subjects- demonstrating that when entered, they achieve highly.
“Leaders have ensured that pupils benefit from a broad, ambitious and well-sequenced curriculum. Teachers are clear about the essential knowledge pupils must learn and how this builds over time.”
(Ofsted, April 2025)
Investing in the whole student experience
Academic success matters greatly, but we remain equally committed to developing confident, responsible and aspirational young people. Park View provides a rich programme of personal development, careers guidance, leadership opportunities and extra-curricular activities- all of which were praised by Ofsted and continue to define our school ethos.
“The school’s work to promote pupils’ wider personal development is a significant strength. Pupils engage enthusiastically with the range of enrichment opportunities on offer.”(Ofsted, April 2025)
“Pupils speak positively about the respectful and supportive relationships they have with staff. This contributes to the calm atmosphere in lessons and around the school.”(Ofsted, April 2025)
“Pupils behave well in lessons and at social times. They take pride in their work and show positive attitudes to learning.”(Ofsted, April 2025)
