Curriculum GCSE and Level 2 Options

Selecting which subjects to study in Years 10 and 11 is a very important decision as it will affect:

  • Progress over the final years of compulsory schooling
  • Choice of subjects at Sixth Form or college
  • and your employment prospects in the future

Students in Year 9 will need to consider all of the options available to them. All students will need to think about which
subjects they enjoy, which subjects they are good at and which subjects will be most useful  in the future. We will be helping all students to plan and choose wisely, giving them as much direction as necessary. This decision must be theirs, but there are
people in school who can help such as tutors, Head of Year, Pastoral Manager or our dedicated Careers Leader, Mrs Raine.

A Broad and Balanced Curriculum
We have a responsibility to offer a broad and balanced curriculum whilst also allowing  some choice about the direction of study too. Whilst it is very rare to make decisions at this stage that will restrict choices Post-16, it is important that there are opportunities for our students to flourish in options which suit them. The following booklet will give you much more information about the depth of our curriculum offer.
