The Department for Education has provided funding for 16-19 providers to support those whose learning has been disrupted by Covid 19.

In line with the evidence on the impact of small group tuition (based on Education Endowment Foundation research), we have decided to deliver sessions to small groups of up to five students as this is likely to deliver the greatest impact.

Support sessions will be prioritised for the following students:

  • Those with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan

  • Those who have a grade 4 or below in GCSE Maths and/or English

Tuition support will be tailored to individual students in English and Maths based on knowledge of the students, analysis of data and assessment data from departments. Sessions will  be delivered targeting specific aspects of exam technique and content. Students will be assessed in the programme to show the impact of the offer.

As the situation nationally changes this year in terms of COVID and school opening, we will evaluate the use of the fund and modify as necessary to the needs our our learners.

The Sixth Form is committed to ensuring the tuition fund is used in accordance with the Government’s guidance on the 16 to 19 tuition fund by:

  • producing this statement setting out how the fund will be used to support the most disadvantaged students

  • publishing this guidance on the school website (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/16-to-19-funding-16-to-19-tuition-fund#purpose)

  • ensure that anyone delivering small group tuition has the appropriate knowledge, skills, and experience, and has received appropriate training where necessary.

  • recording the use of the fund, including references to individual students who receive support, the needs of those students, the number of hours of tuition delivered and retain the evidence of the tuition provided

  • deliver the extra tuition and spend the allocated funds in each academic year.

  • notify the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) of any underspend from the Fund for it to be reclaimed
