Performing Arts Faculty Vision and Intent
As a faculty, our vision is to create confident, creative and resilient learners who can collaborate successfully with others to produce innovative and imaginative work. Our aim is to inspire, challenge and excite our students about what is possible in Drama and Music with the hope that they will do the same for us in return. We want students to have high aspirations for themselves, to be respectful of others and to understand the responsibilities that come with working as part of a team. Our intention is to create reflective learners who can evaluate and analyse their work honestly and critically in order to make progress.
We will also provide students with opportunities to take part in Drama, Music and Musical Theatre performances beyond the classroom to build their self-confidence and generate skills and experiences they can carry forward into adult life.
In order to achieve this, we want to inspire students to:
- Be leaders, problem-solvers and team players, who are open-minded and enthusiastic about new ideas.
- Be creative thinkers and empathetic listeners and demonstrate this in rehearsals and performance working with a variety of different people to develop their social skills.
- Interpret their ideas through the medium of drama applying key drama skills in rehearsal and performance.
- Build communication skills, contributing to both large and small group work tasks, supporting their peers.
- Thoughtful evaluators who can give and take constructive criticism and respond to this feedback productively.
- Be Inspired and culturally enhanced by experiencing live and/or recorded performances by people currently working in the industry.
