Geography Vision and Intent
At Park View, the study of Geography stimulates an interest in and a sense of wonder about places. It helps our students make sense of a complex and dynamically changing world. It explains where places are, how places and landscapes are formed, how people and their environment interact, and how a diverse range of economies, societies and environments are interconnected. It builds on our students’ own experiences to investigate places at all scales, from the personal to the global.
The overarching intent of our curriculum for Geography at Park View is to inspire in all students a curiosity and fascination about the world in which they live and to give students a framework that resonates with them for understanding their own place in the world.
Our aim is to instil a sense of ambition, aspiration and determination into each and every student, broadening their horizons and stirring up their imagination. This department intends that all students will develop their geographical knowledge about people, location, places, resources and environments in meaningful ways.
A commitment to field work and enquiry is integral to our aims for our students so that they are ready for their next steps as well as being developed Geographers and resilient young citizens. Locational knowledge is key to an understanding of geographical concepts, resulting in a curriculum that is location led, involving enquiries to enable students to draw their own conclusions and make sense of the world around them.
